In the series Spot on … ifa Gallery Berlin presents cultural highlights of the African continent in Germany. Spot on … DAK’ART – The 8th Biennial of Contemporary African Art provides a glimpse into the special features and activities of the Biennial, which took place in Dakar, Senegal, in 2008.

DAK’ART is characterized by the combination of contemporary art and current African design. The focus is on self-reflection and the determination of the position of the artists and designers. The ifa Galerie Berlin together with the artist and curator Akinbode Akinbiyi selected artists, designers from the main exhibition of the biennial, which illustrate the high level of African contemporary art.
The selected works also show how Africa’s problems, such as refugee movements, racism, and war, are reflected in the artistic reflections.

Curated by Akinbode Akinbiyi.
