The curator of this exhibition is the art historian and director of the Soros Centre of Contemporary Art Skopje, Nebosja Vilic. In the exhibition he offers an insight into Macedonia’s art production in the 1990s in the context of European development. The title of the exhibition also refers to this. “Parallels” describes the process of simultaneously developing art phenomena, different artistic tendencies united by the fact that they are an expression of their time and of a state of mind. The exhibiting artists all reflect on themselves and their time, search for a formal language for contemporary expression, try to further develop their own artistic vocabulary and to meet their aesthetic standards.
