TRAILER „Le Cantique des oiseaux, variation“ by Katia Kameli
The film Le Cantique des oiseaux, variation, featured in the exhibition at ifa Gallery Berlin, brings together dancers at the Rayol Garden on the Mediterranean coast of the South of France, associating each dancer with a bird. Each bird, and thus each dancer, has distinct choreography and a distinct sound. The dancers have been co-directed with Youness Anzane to a musical composition by Aurélie Sfez.
The exhibition The Canticle of the Birds by Katia Kameli draws inspiration from the eponymous poem by Farîd od-dîn ‘Attâr, a classical Sufi poet who lived in twelfth-century Iran. The poem follows thousands of birds on their journey of initiation in search of the mythical bird Sîmorgh, an allegory for the divine.
On the occasion of MOTUS’s last activation in the framework of ifa Gallery Berlin’s exhibition “Spheres of Interest*”, Adrien Missika will ride the mobile gallery to the Berlin Art Week Garden and present a group exhibition featuring artworks from ifa art collection as well as a performance.
Teaser: Isaac Chong Wai feat. Käthe Kollwitz, „Die Mütter“
Isaac Chong Wai has developed a performance referencing the woodcut Die Mütter (The Mothers) (1922-23) by Käthe Kollwitz, which portrays women and children marked by war.
For Chong Wai, this image is a symbol of solidarity and resistance. His work surrounding collective bodies under politically repressive regimes has led to his interest in songs of lamentation. For the Art Week 2022 he performs the piece in the Klosterruine – a monastery ruin, now an outdoor cultural venue in Berlin’s Mitte district. A group of performers and singers opens up the protected space created by Käthe Kollwitz and fills it anew by reciting various hymns together.
Dates:
Thursday, 15 September & Friday, 16 September, 2022, 17:00-19:00 Uhr
Klosterruine Berlin, Klosterstraße 73a, 10179 Berlin
Adrien Missika’s MOTUS is a mobile exhibition display in the form of a bicycle, which the artist uses to present several Fluxus works as part of the exhibition and in public space.
Recalling the traveling nature of ifa’s touring exhibitions, MOTUS operates in public space and displays artworks selected by Adrien Missika from the ifa art collection.
Isaac Chong Wai bezieht sich mit seiner Performance auf den Holzschnitt Die Mütter (1922/23) von Käthe Kollwitz, der Frauen und Kinder darstellt, die vom Krieg gezeichnet sind.
