Fashion is a creative act that tells the world who we are – what we wear reveals our intimate relationship to body, time and territory.

Diaspora Wonderland understands fashion as a cultural seismograph that reflects and anticipates changes in identity, gender, sensuality, heritage and imagination. Bringing together artists and designers working across textile, sound, photography and sculptural garments, the exhibition reveals fashion as a space of transmission and narratives. It highlights diasporic experiences and identities as constitutive forces of new “wonderlands” shaped by collective memory and movement. The circulation of craftsmanship, aesthetics and knowledge within diasporic communities becomes visible, while at the same time promoting exchange with Berlin’s local fashion scene and creative industry.
